Pastor's Pen 334

As we approach another week of passion I am compelled to not approach it with history in mind but with a sense of new enlightenment.  No, not to lose the appreciation of what God has done and is doing for us, but to stand on tiptoe anticipation open to what God is going to do through us.  While we are waiting on the movement of “The Lord” we are reminded that it was doing this time that one of the most important questions that have ever been asked was spoken.  For, Pilate asked the question to the angry and violent crowd that was gathered before him at the “Hall of Judgment”: “What shall I do then with Jesus who is called Christ?”  (Matthew 27:22).

By far, this is one of the most important questions that have ever been asked.  But let us make it personal, “What are you going to do with Jesus?”  Are you going to make him King and Lord over your life?  Or are you going to reject Jesus as rightful King over you?  Are you going to put your life, your lifestyle, your very existence into Jesus hands?  Or are you going to stay in control?  Are your words approved by Jesus?  Or do you speak without approval and forethought?  Are you glorifying Jesus with you actions.  Or are you rejecting Jesus with your deeds by refusing to help others in need?  Remember it was Jesus that said, “as much as you have done it to the lease of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.

What are we doing with Jesus?  If we cannot be faithful with what we know and already have, how do we expect to be faithful with the new enlightenment and directions of God to come?  What are you going to do with the one called Christ?
